AndSMB1.5: Broken pipe java.net.SocketException: Broken pipe

Hi,I'm on Samsung Galaxy S2 with official Gingerbread firmware. At the beginning the program works fine without any issue. But after few days I'm started to receive the below error on the next time I connect to the file server:
Broken pipe java.net.SocketException: Broken pipe

Once I received this error I'm no longer able to connect / browse to any of my share folder.

In order to make it works again I have to reinstall the app. But after the second time it still happen this error. The problem only happen when I disconnected and reconnect to the wireless AP 2nd time, when start to make an access to the file server share folder.

Hope this issue can be rectified soon. It's very annoying that every time I have to reinstall the app in order to connect to my file server.

I've found a solution that temporary make it works, which I need to go to "Task Manager" and click on "Force Stop" to close the app. I attached the screen capture for your reference.

Why the app needs to be stopped in that way ?? Shouldn't it be completely exit after I close the app ?? Even AndFTP also have such behavior as well.

It seems to mean that a connection is still open and is not closed except if the application closed. We're going to try to reproduce the problem. What is your server with SMB share? Windows 2003?

Hi thanks for reply. I mostly accessed the shared folder on Windows XP. But I even tested on Windows 2003 also the same problem. As you can see my attached image, the AndSMB is actually exit but the CPU usage is still that high and needs to force stop else it drains my battery life as well.

To reproduce the problem:
1. Connect the phone to WiFi
2. Launch "AndSMB"
3. Connect and browse to the Windows XP / Windows Server 2003 shared folder.
4. Disconnect and exit the "AndSMB"
5. Disconnect the WiFi connection of the phone.
6. Connect back the phone to WiFi
7. Launch the "AndSMB"
8. Connect to the same shared folder mentioned in "STEP 3"
9. "Broken pipe java.net.SocketException: Broken pipe" error appear.
10. From that point onward the phone no longer can access to any share folder.

Hi. I am having the exact same problem with nexus am using win 7 64 bit and tried server 2008 32 bit. Works for one tender then same as above

I think it is advised that the app itself must fully EXIT from the system this including not caching any data in the background else user has to "Force close" under task manager in order for it to able to connect to the network shared folder again. Due to currently the app will be cached in the background when user EXIT the app.

If the author can design in such a way then if the app happen this error again, user just needs to to exit the app and relaunch the app. Then this will solve the issue.

Lately I've tried with other file manager and found that those of them are working properly and seldom having aforementioned issue. (issue may still happen but in a very low percentage.)

Those file manager I have tested are:
1. ASTRO File Manager with SMB Module installed
2. File Expert
3. ES File Manger

Why AndSMB getting this issue in a very high percentage ?? Almost everytime.
Hope the developer will FIX the issue as soon as possible.
