Cannot log in to SMB/CIFS server

Post by frankhovin »

I have a network share, smb/cifs, which I can connect to from all my computers - Windows, Linux, OSX. However, with AndSMB I cannot log in - it just refuses to take my username and password.

I connect without problems in Linux to this share, like this:

mount -t cifs //10.0.0.11/share -o username=user,password=pass /mnt/share

and in Windows/Mac using the normal method. The only thing that cannot connect is AndSMB.

Any ideas?

I was contemplating bying the full version, but until it can prove itself to actually work at all, it's out of the question. Any help appreciated.

I take it the makers here aren't very interested in providing support for potential customers, since this has been unanswered for three days now. Oh well - I'll find another app.

Sorry for the delay. Did you try to setup a domain?
What error do you get exactly when connecting? Are you over 3G or WiFi?

Hi, no problem.

There is no domain. It's a samba server running on a Linux server and a network disk. I get no other error than that I'm unable to authenticate. As far as I can see, there is no way to get any more detailed errors in the app?

Error are reported in the 3 lines bottom box (you can scroll). Could it be a NTLMv1 or v2 issue? For instance, you force NTLMv2 only.

I have got the same problem. The error log only reads:

CONNECT smb://192.168.1.200:445
DOMAIN SWI USER user name PASS ******
Logon failure:unknown user name or bad password

Tested different users and even empty passwords. Also tested with different charactersets with exactly the same result.

Could you make sure about case on username?

I am having the same problem - andSMB works great with Windows share, but it timeouts with Samba. In my case it is samba4 on ubuntu 11.10.
I also tested other SMB client apps on my HTC phone and Motorola Xoom tablet. They behave exactly like andSMB. I simply couln't find ANY app on the Market that would work against samba.
The integration of andSMB with Fing is a perfect fit!
Is there anything I could do to help resolve this issue?

I have the same problem trying to connect to MAC via SMB. I have checked case and created new users just to test. Works fine connecting to windows shares..

I am having the same problem. I can login to my pc when ANONIMOUS is checked but if I set a username and password(uncheck anon) I cannot connect after I enter my username and password. Same error message, as the above user. ICS v4.04, galaxaxy tab 2 10.1
