can't switch to folder...?

Post by bobkoure »

I've setup a shared folder on my win 2003 server named public (and shared as 'public')
sharing: everyone / all rights; guests / read / list /execute

In AndSMB, I've setup a connection
Hostname: 172.16.51.16
Username: (my username)
Password: (my password)
Domain: (servername - single server domain)

Local Dir: /sdcard
Remote dir: /public

When I click connect, AndSMB appears to connect with the server OK, but then flashes up a message "cannot change directory to /public".
I've tried this with the anon checkbox checked. Again, appears to connect fine but "cannot change directory.

Any thoughts on something I've missed?
Thanks!

What about if you simply left remote folder blank?

I'm getting this problem as well. I'm using DarkyRom 9.5 on Samsung Galaxy S. It got the same problem with stock rom.

I do notice however an java error stack of which I'll transpose the first few lines
Failled to connect: {my url/my ip} jcifs.d.a.d
java.SocketTimeoutException: Transport endpoint is not connection
at [...really long stack with no way to copy paste...]
Is there a log file somewhere that I can paste here?

Thank you.

We've made some search about this error and it seems to be a bug in the Java run time of the device. However, it could be caught to be ignored. We would need to reproduce the problem to apply try/catch/ignore and provide the fix. You was using windows 2003 correct?

No, here is my network topology (the relevant parts)
  • I have a quasi static IP that is not NATed (as far as I can tell)
  • I and using a dyndns (homedns.org) to connect to my router. Router is a Linksys WRT350N running dd-wrt build 14869. My router auto update the dyndns so that the ip address is always correct
  • Using port forwarding on my router (ports 445, 135-139 per various searches) are forwarded to a CIFS and SMB server on a NAS which a DLink DNS-321 running it's stock Linux based firmware
The port forwarding works because when on inside internal network, it works. I just noticed however that the port might be blocked by my ISP. I will change the forwarding rules and try again. This error might be related to port 445 being blocked.

IT was that port 445 was blocked by my ISP. When I switched to port 8888, it works no problem. So it seems a timeout may mean that the standard port is blocked.
