Open file WITHOUT downloading

Hi
Perhaps I am missing an obvious setup task....but I am unable to watch a movie, play a song or view an pic without downloading it first?
The install worked flawlessly and I was able to connect and view my SMB shares in about 10 seconds.....but I can't access anything without downloading it first.....which kinda defeats the object of having an SMB client (I already have an ftp client)
Any ideas? .... or plans to enable SMB access as a "network filesystem"?
