Problem connecting to share

Post by martixy »

Here's the problem.
I have 2 PC's, both have the exact same setup(OS is Win7 x64).
I can access the shared drives on one, but not the other.
Firewalls are not the problem(the one with it works, it's the one without that doesn't).

Suggestions are welcome.

What error do you get?

I was just stuck at authenticating(i.e. this line "user <whatever> pass ******").

This happened when connecting to a specific drive/folder. Later when tinkering with it, I managed to connect if I didn't specify anything(i.e. to root of all roots).

My issue ends here, but it's still a weird bug.

I'm having similar problems. I can connect to the SMB server without issue from another device (iphone/goodreader). When I attempt to connect, by either the hostname, or ip address, I get the following error:
"Failed to connect: 0.0.0.<00>/192.168.2.133 jcifs.a.e.d
java.net.SocketTimeoutException: failed to connect to /192.168.2.133 (port 445) after 60000ms"
// dropping the usual Java stack trace info...

In the server settings info, only thing I have is hostname: 192.168.2.133, leaving all optional settings empty, and using all other application defaults.

the SMB server is a Windows 8 box

any help would be greatly appreciated

Is there any way for you to see if port 445 is allowed on your device?
Could you install Fing application to check it?
