Is it possible to use AndExplorer to paste sound files to the "Internal Audio" directory?

I'm trying to replace the default sysytem sounds with Star Trek sounds.

I'm not a Linux guru, but I think I may need elevated permissions or root access to write to this directory.

No, not for now. I think it would be possible without root permission by using content provider API. I add this to the wishlist.

Any news on the availability of this option yet?
