FTPS problems over UMTS

Post by Twoleeland »

I have a problem with AndFTP.
I want to login to my AVM Fritzbox 7270 (ADSL-Router) with FTPS (Explicit FTP over TLS/SSL), but it hangs after authentication. It recognises the login-data and then it does nothing. This is done all over UMTS.
The same thing works great over WLAN. No probs.
Thus I have to use normal FTP, if I want to login over UMTS.
Can you figure out the problem?

I guess you're using PASSIVE mode, could you check that IP provided by your FTP server is not the internal IP but the external IP. It may explain the problem with UMTS.

Yes, I'm using passive mode. I checked also the active mode, but it's the same result.

I'm using dyndns-account to map the changing IP-adress to an Internet adress,
e.g. "http://xyz.no-ip.org", to connect to my FritzBox over Internet.

Normal FTP works on both modes, WLAN and UMTS. FTPS works only over WLAN.
But I want a secure connection, when I'm travelling and have only UMTS for Internet connection.

FTPS is not working with UMTS for me:
AndFTP stops at line: "234 Authentication method accepted"

Same problem here on nexus one. It works on emulator but not on some device. It seems to be a bug in Socket implementation when reusing plain socket for TLS socket.
