Charset Default

Postby uxcn » Sun Oct 30, 2016 3:21 am

I ran into an issue using AndFTP recently, where remote filenames contained characters outside the ASCII charset. AndFTP seemingly received incorrect filenames from the server. After spending a fairly long time diagnosing the issue, I finally found a setting for the SFTP server to autodetect the charset which resolved the issue. However, I'm kind of left wondering why anything other than unicode or autodetect isn't the default.

Is there any way to make this default for new servers? Does I need to explicitly configure autodetect every time I set up a new server?

It depends on server. That's why there is a charset option in advanced tab. Once you know which ne is used by server then you can select it.
